A constituency in Assam with 90 eligible voters receives 171 votes

A massive booth irregularity was revealed in Haflong constituency, Assam where 90 people were eligible for voting but it was revealed that 171 votes were cast.

The 171 vote cast took place in a booth at Dima Hasao district in the second phase polls on April 1.

The District Election Officer, according to a report in Hindustan Times in this connection have suspended five poll officials of the booth, set up at 107(A) Khotlir LP School, and proposed a repoll on April 2.

The five officials are: Seikhosiem Lhangum (Sector Officer), Prahlad Ch Roy (Presiding Officer), Parameswar Charangsa (1st Polling Officer), Swaraj Kanti Das (2nd Polling Officer) and Lalzamlo Thiek (3rd Polling Officer) with immediate effect.
