Chandel: Chandel district headquarters Japhou Bazar and it’s surrounding area looks completely deserted on Saturday due to ADC Bill 2021, 24-hour shutdown called by heads of the tribal student bodies namely ATSUM, ANSAM, KSO general headquarters and ATSUM Federating Units.
Usual business came to a halt in Japhou Bazar in response to the shutdown. Big shops and other essential grocery stores were all closed.
No buses and other public transportation were seen plying on the Chandel-Imphal road.
The Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC) and their 9 Federating Units extended support to the shutdown initiated by apex student bodies like ATSUM, ANSAM, KSO general headquarters.
All Tribal Students Union (ATSUM) decision to enforce the ongoing 24-hour shutdown and economic blockade in the hill districts after a joint meeting with chief minister and the hill student leaders failed to bring concrete solution during the meeting on Friday.
