Ukhrul, July 11: The Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) told the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) that age relaxation for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates is applicable to posts that are reserved for their respective categories. Age relaxation for ST/SC/OBC candidates is not extended to vacant posts advertised under the Un-Reserved (UR) category, the MPSC stated.

The MPSC was responding to TYCM‘s representation for reservation of one post for Scheduled Tribe (ST) out of three posts of Development Officer (DIC) as per order no. 9/6/2007-SC/ST/OBC/DP(Pt) dated November 14, 2014 and for grant of 5 years of age relaxation to ST candidates for all 18 advertised/sanctioned posts.

“While ST candidates are indeed eligible to apply for and for Un-Reserved (UR) posts, their candidature for such posts is to be considered under the general standards applicable to the Un-Reserved category, including age criteria. Therefore, age relaxation for ST/SC/OBC candidates is not extended to vacant posts advertised under the Un-Reserved (UR) category,” the MPSC stated in its response.

The Commission also stated that it is aware of the government order no. 9/6/2007-SC/ST/OBC/DP(Pt) dated November 14, 2014 and directed the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) to approach the Administrative Department (TC&I) on Development Officer (DIC) recruitment.

As matters related to sanction post and vacancy are within the purview of the Administrative Department, for any further details of clarification you are requested to kindly approach the Administrative Department (TC&I),” the MPSC added.
