Ajit Lal To lead Naga, Kuki-Zo and Meitei Peace Talks As MHA’s Northeast Advisor

UKHRUL: Ajit Lal has been appointed as the Northeast Advisor to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, reported The Hindu.

Lal, a retired Indain Police Service officer and former Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) who was also an IB special director from 2008 to 2011 will lead the Naga peace talk and continue the dialogue with the Kuki-Zo and Meitei insurgent groups in Manipur.

He previously led the Naga political talks from March to July 2014. Lal was also present during the signing of the tripartite agreement for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority, signed between Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation, the Nagaland government and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
