UKHRUL: Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter and music educator Alobo Naga has been appointed as the Director of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He assumed charge on July 10, 2026.
Alobo is widely recognised for his contributions to music and cultural promotion in Northeast India. He won the MTV Europe Music Award (EMA) for Best Indian Act in 2012 and received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Music from the Government of Nagaland in 2015. More recently, he was honoured at the Face of NE Influence (2026): Who’s Next Influencer
Awards India.
Over the course of his career, Alobo has performed at more than 1,500 concerts in India and abroad and has collaborated with several international artists. He is also the founder of Musik-A, a music institute through which he has mentored over 1,000 students, helping aspiring musicians develop professional careers.
Beyond music education, he has organised and managed more than 250 concerts, festivals and cultural events across India and overseas, contributing significantly to the promotion of music and culture from the Northeast.

The North East Zone Cultural Centre, headquartered in Dimapur, functions under the Ministry of Culture to preserve, promote and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the northeastern states. Alobo’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the centre’s cultural outreach and engagement across the region.
