ALT Storms into Semi-Finals of NSF Martyrs’ Trophy Beating Kuki United

Kohima, October 14: The Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT) football team has stormed into the semi-finals of the ongoing NSF Martyrs’ Trophy, beating Kuki United FC at the IG Stadium in Kohima on Tuesday.

Making their appearance in the event after a long break, it was important for team ALT to make a mark, considering that the Anal Naga tribe is one of the prominent Naga tribes of Manipur. Moreover, the Anal Lenruwl Tangpi General Headquarters is one of the prominent Naga student bodies of Manipur.

The match began on a high note, with both teams coming off fresh wins in the pre-quarter finals. However, it was Kuki United FC that drew first blood in the 30th minute through Seivanglen. Team ALT hit back in injury time of the first half through Thumsol, leaving the scores level at 1-1 at half-time.

The second half began equally energetically, with both teams attacking each other. In the 60th minute, Winkle scored for ALT to take a 2-1 lead. Six minutes later, Kagaly, captain of team ALT, scored from the penalty spot to extend the lead to 3-1.

Thumsol was adjudged Man of the Match. Team ALT will meet Nagaland United in the semi-final on Thursday at IG Stadium, Kohima.
