The economic blockade was called off as the state government had assured to release Rs 150 crore and the remaining balance on phase-wise within January 2023, AMTDGF said in a statement today.

The statement signed by its vice president Setkhosat Kipgen then appealed to the state government to release the six members of the forum arrested by the police and also to withdraw the arrest warrant issued on the leaders and members of the forum. To mention here, police in Kangpokpi and Senapati district have detained at least six members of the forum on Thursday, in a crackdown on the agitators.

A source said that they are likely to be released after producing before the relevant courts.
“Release all the arrested executives and blockade supporters detained by the police without any condition and also withdraw the arrest warrant issued against AMTDGF executives,” demanded the forum.

It also thanked all blockade supporters and the “public of Manipur for supporting the agitation” in the highest interest of job card holders of the MGNREGA.
