UKHRUL: The Anal Scholars & Writers Forum (ASWF) organised its second Get-Together at the campus of Anallon Christian Institute, Lambung, bringing together scholars, researchers, and writers from diverse disciplines.

Established in 2018, ASWF comprises young and senior scholars, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members engaged in civil society and research. The Forum aims to promote intellectual engagement through sharing ideas, discussions, and constructive feedback. At present, the Anal community has 29 PhD holders and over 28 doctoral research scholars across various fields.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Bethel Nula, with Rev. Dr Huten Wilson offering the opening prayer. Dr Hmunshel Jasha, General Secretary, ASWF, delivered the welcome address.

Three short lectures marked the event. Dr. BD Shangningam, Scientist and Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, DM University, Imphal, spoke on “Flowing Treasures: Biodiversity of Chakpi River”, highlighting threats such as river ranching, sand mining, deforestation, unsustainable agricultural practices, weak governance, and low public awareness.

The second lecture by Dr. KT Lalnihring focused on ethnic politics in Myanmar, examining historical conflicts, ethnic divisions, and identity politics. The final lecture was delivered by Dr Onhring Langhu, who spoke on forest conservation in North-East India, with emphasis on traditional resource management practices and the ecological importance of untouched forest areas.

The lectures were followed by an open discussion on issues concerning the Anal community and their future implications. The programme also witnessed the induction of new executive members, with Dr. BD Thumdal as President, Dr. KT Lalnihring as Vice President, Dr. Bethel Nula as General Secretary, and Rd Teresa as Treasurer. The outgoing President, Dr. L Khiloni, delivered the vote of appreciation.

Several scholars, authors, and legal professionals were present at the programme including Dr Langhu Changde.
