ANTA leads in clearing up Lamphou Charu – Anal Khullen road

Chandel, July 9: The incessant rain over the past few days in Chandel district had led to a huge landslide along the Lamphou Charu – Anal Khullen inter village road thus cutting off Anal Khullen from Chandel district headquarters. This means that, it was impossible for one to travel between the two villages or for the villagers of Anal Khullen to come towards the district headquarters.

Hence, following a widely circulated video of the same in social media platforms and an appeal made, the Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA), an apex body of the Anal Naga community took an initiative in clearing the road.

Led by ANTA executive members including President PS. Monihring, general secretary Ts. Larni and others, the teams comprising of various leaders including social worker Ts. Beton, who also financed the clearing process, reached the area in the afternoon and began clearing the landslide area with the help of a JCB excavator provided by Hl. Lovingson, a special contractor.

The venue is about 15 kms away from the district headquarters.

As waiting for the District Disaster Management Fund (DDMF) would take time, Hl. Lovingson, Special Contractor and social activist Ts. Beton funded and provided with a JCB to help clear the road, Ts. Larni, general secretary of ANTA said.

Due to incessant rain, reports suggest that landslides have once again cut off some parts of the road and hence, ANTA will resume will clearing the road on Thursday.
