AR Commemorates Veterans Day at Somsai Garrison, Ukhrul

Ukhrul, March 24: Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) observed “Veterans Day” at Somsai Garrison, Ukhrul on Saturday.

As part of the observation, Assam Rifles organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Somsai garrison on the occasion of Assam Rifles Veterans Day. ESMs and Veer Naaris from both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts attended the rally with great enthusiasm.

The celebrations were part of the recently announced Assam Rifles Veterans Day, which is slated to be celebrated on March 23 every year. The main aim of the event was to interact with the veterans, Veer Naaris and their kins, and facilitate resolution of their problem and impending issues.

The event witnessed a huge gathering of ESMs, Veer Naaris and their kins, accounting to over 140 people. Various stalls were placed in the rally facilitating the ESMs, to include Banking Services, CSD extension, Pension Cell and Medical Counter. Brig Sandeep Singh, SM, Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters 10 Sector distributed various items assisting needs of elderly and disabled ESMs during the rally.

The efforts undertaken by Assam Rifles towards the cause of the Ex-Servicemen, and Veer Naris was well appreciated by all the attendees.
