Army aspirants in Manipur protest against CEE cancellation

Imphal: A group of Indian Army aspirants on Wednesday protested in front of the office of the BJP Manipur Pradesh in Imphal against the Centre’s cancellation of Common Entrance Exam (CEE) for Indian Army.

The protesters alleged that the concerned Union ministry, in an order issued on Tuesday cancelled the CEE, which had been withheld for over a year, reportedly due to the Covid pandemic. The protesters converged at the gate of the BJP office at Nityapath Chuthek near Raj Bhavan and demonstrated demanding revocation of the order cancelling the CEE, 2021.

They alleged that the Centre had kept on hold the CEE even though all of them had cleared their physical and medical tests. One of the protesters said that the physical, medical and other tests for the recruitment had already been completed in March 2021 and the CEE was scheduled on April 25, 2021. However, the exam was deferred and hasn’t been conducted till date and when they were preparing for the exam with expectations of holding the same at any time, the Centre announced the cancellation of the exam on June 28.

While expressing a strong dismay over the cancellation, he said that most of them had to give up their education and skip exams in order to take up the physical and medical tests. The Army aspirant also said that the order cancelling the CEE mentioned that those candidates below the age of 23 years can now join the recruitment for Agneeveers under recently introduced Agneepath scheme.
