Imphal: BJP national general secretary, CT Ravi said today that Congress has a habit of raising objections to whatever BJP does. The BJP leader also slammed the opposition party for its objection to Agneepath scheme.

Addressing the media at BJP Manipur Pradesh office in Imphal this afternoon, Ravi said that Congress has the habit of raising objections to whatever BJP does. “It would be better for Congress to leave the habit,” he added. “It is very unfortunate that Congress is trying to politicize the Agneepath scheme keeping behind the interest of the nation,” he also said. “It would be better for the party (Congress) to give more emphasis to the interest of the nation,” Ravi further added.

The Central government had unveiled the Agneepath scheme under which the youth between the aga group of 17 and a half and 23 will be recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force on contractual basis for four years. The BJP general secretary claimed that the Agneepath scheme is a scheme which will transform the country. He added that it will bring transformation not only to the status of the youths of the country but also the society. Ravi also said that youths across the country lauded the Central government for the new promising scheme. However, some vested interest people are spreading false propaganda against the scheme, he stated.

“Raising objections to such a youth oriented scheme is not good for the nation. If they really love the nation, they would have supported the scheme,” he said. The BJP leader then alleged that Congress is one party which is not popular among the people across the country. The results of the recently concluded elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly have shown that the people of Manipur are fed up with the party, he also stated. “People don’t want the ideology of Congress. The party is well aware of the same. However, Congress continues to give obstacles to developmental works initiated by the BJP government in the state,” Ravi alleged.

The BJP national general secretary then claimed that the people of the state have faith with the BJP’s “double engines” government as they yearn for development which was not seen during long Congress rule.
