Ashok Singhal attends BJP joint organisational meeting cum mass enrollment campaign in Ukhrul

Ukhrul: The arrival of Ashok Singhal, cabinet minister, Governtment of Assam cum Manipur election co-incharge at Ukhrul town in the afternoon today saw new faces joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in enormous numbers.

According to Michael Shaiza, BJP Manipur state co-incharge political programmes and meeting for 44-Ukhrul and 45-Chingai ACs, as many as 70 above from Indian National Congress (INC) and Naga People’s Front combined, joined BJP at the joint organisational meeting cum mass enrollment campaign meet held at Town Hall, Ukhrul on Wednesday. This he said, included several leaders, senior party functionaries and workers from 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC and 45-Chingai (ST) AC Mandals officially joined the ruling political party.

Michael Shaiza also added, “Today’s visit of Hon’ble Shri Ashok Singhal ji and his message of unity, equality, development of Ukhrul District and BJP as a political movement for social justice and not just as a political party propitiate the need of the time. Such platform will definitely strengthen the party at the grassroot level and consolidate the trust of general public”.

BJP Ukhrul meeting

The move is being seen as a setback for INC and NPF political parties in 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC and 45-Chingai (ST) AC ahead of the 2022 Manipur polls.

Ashok Singhal’s visit to Ukhrul was joined by CH Chindananda Singh, vice president BJP Manipur state, Thotthing Kashung president BJP Ukhrul District, vice president Wungtam Zimik and general secretary Jordan Pheiray, Longyao Raihing, Khathing Luiram State executive, special invitee, intending BJP candidates of 44-Ukhrul, 45-Chingai and 43-Phungyar ACs, party karyakartas, and various morchas of the party.
