Ukhrul, Mar 13: In an inspiring initiative to promote national integration and foster cultural exchange, the Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps on Wednesday flagged off a ten-day ‘National Integration Tour’. A total of 34 women participants from various districts of Manipur will visit Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata as part of the tour.
The National Integration Tour (NIT), conducted under Operation Sadbhavana, will provide a unique opportunity to the women from Manipur to orient themselves with developments across India and to interact with people from different regions of the country.

The tour was flagged off on 12 March 25 from the Assam Rifles Garrison at Mantripukhri in the presence of distinguished women from Manipur including Thumplin Monsang, Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women and retired judge A Noutuneshwari Devi. The event was graced by the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and Navjot Kaur, Regional President, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA).
Addressing the participants, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) highlighted the pivotal role of women from Manipur in shaping the Manipuri society and underscored the significance of initiatives like the National Integration Tour towards restoration of peace and harmony.
During the tour, participants will visit iconic historical sites, national monuments and revered temples, offering a deeper understanding of India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. They will also interact with dignitaries such as the Governor of Gujarat and senior officials from the Indian Army. These interactions will strengthen the role of women as ambassadors of unity and tranquility.

Speaking on the occasion, T Monsang highlighted the importance of engaging women in peace processes and social reformation. She appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for engaging the women of Manipur, as also for providing them the much-needed avenue to venture out and explore other parts of the nation.
Navjot Kaur, President Regional ARWWA handed over the ‘Tour Flag’ and wished the participants a fruitful and satisfying journey.
The National Integration Tour by Assam Rifles stands as a testament to the organisation’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace, unity and women empowerment.
