IMPHAL/UKHRUL: Assam Rifles on Sunday provided 100 flood lights worth ₹1.50 lakh to Konthoujam village in Imphal West district, Manipur under its Civic Action Programme 2026–27.
The initiative was undertaken following a request from the Konthoujam Maning Youth Club, which had highlighted the need for better lighting in the village, particularly to improve visibility and movement after sunset.
The flood lights will be installed at key locations, including village roads, community spaces and entry and exit points. The improved illumination is expected to facilitate safer movement and support community activities during the evening hours.

Around 125 villagers and members of the Konthoujam Maning Youth Club attended the programme.
The event also featured a traditional cultural dance performance by local participants. Assam Rifles officials later distributed the flood lights and interacted with members of the local community.
The village chief and members of the Konthoujam Maning Youth Club expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that the lighting facilities would benefit residents and improve safety and convenience, particularly during the night.
Assam Rifles’ Civic Action Programme supports need-based community welfare initiatives in areas, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, sports, sanitation and other essential facilities.
