Assam Rifles Investiture Ceremony 2024 held at Manipur Raj Bhavan

Investiture Ceremony 2024 of Assam Rifles was held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Monday. During the ceremony, Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey handed over Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals to Assam Rifles personnel and Governor’s Unit Citations to Army and AR units.

Addressing the event, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said Assam Rifles has been showcasing its glorious history for 187 years, its achievements, integrity and sacrifices made by its soldiers. She expressed that Assam Rifles is always at the forefront in both world wars, counter insurgency operations, maintaining law and order, providing assistance in local administrative work, disaster management and socio-economic development of remote areas. They are continuously active in the difficult terrain of the North-East and in counter insurgency operations. She said, “They have won the trust and confidence of the people of North East through its public welfare work in all its areas.”

In regard to current situations in Manipur, Governor Anusuiya acknowledged and appreciated the essential role played by the Assam Rifles in establishing peace and harmony through their dedication and said it is key in reducing the tensions engulfed between communities. She further mentioned that through their strategic insertions, Assam Rifles has not only ensured the security of the citizens but also positively encouraged an environment conducive to dialogue and reconciliation. The dedication and hard work of the Assam Rifles in these difficult times epitomizes the spirit of service and unity essential for the well-being of our state, she added. The Governor congratulated all the medal winners and Governor’s Citation winners for the excellent work in every field and wished them a glorious future.

Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Inspector General, Assam Rifles (South), Major General Rajan Sharawat, Manipur State Chief Information Commissioner Koijam Radhashyam Singh, Additional CS MH Khan and Commissioner (Home) T. Ranjit attended the ceremony.
