Pettigrew College Ukhrul Secures NAAC B Grade; Unlocks Potential for Growth

Ukhrul: In a significant stride towards academic excellence, Pettigrew College in Meizailung Ukhrul, Manipur, has received accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a commendable B Grade. The announcement came following a comprehensive on-site evaluation process conducted by a NAAC peer team on the January 16-17, 2024. It is the oldest college and the only government college till date in Ukhrul district.

The accreditation process involved stages such as the submission of Institutional Information for Quality Assessment, Self Study Report, Data Validation & Verification, Student Satisfaction Survey, Onsite Peer Visit, and the subsequent Grant of Accreditation. Pettigrew College demonstrated commandability in various facets, including curricular aspects, teaching methodologies, research, student support, institutional values, and governance.

Principal Soreishang Kasar outlined the initiatives taken for continual improvement, aligning with NAAC benchmarks. The college has devised an Institutional Development Plan focusing on maintaining NAAC standards and aspiring for higher grades in the future cycles.

The NAAC visit on January 16-17 marked a pivotal moment for Pettigrew College. The peer team, led by distinguished members, engaged with administrative units, students, alumni, and other stakeholders. The visit validated claims in the Self-Study Reports concerning Qualitative Metrics.

The NAAC accreditation is not only a testament to the college’s commitment to quality education but also opens avenues for essential programs like B.Ed, crucial for teacher recruitment. Pettigrew College is set to enhance its infrastructure with sanctioned funds for hostels, an administrative block, library building, and more.

The official letter from NAAC Director congratulated Pettigrew College for achieving a CGPA of 2.31 on a seven-point scale at B Grade, valid for five years from January 25, 2024. The college is urged to retain the Self-Study Report on its college website and comply with mandatory submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports for continued eligibility.

Pettigrew College, founded in 1965, holds historical significance in Ukhrul and Manipur, contributing significantly to the educational legacy of the region. The NAAC Accreditation positions the college for continued growth, ensuring quality education for generations to come.
