Assam Rifles Organises joint Mega Tree Plantation Drive at Shirui Peak in Ukhrul District

As many as 4000 saplings of various types of trees were planted at Shirui Kashong today by Assam Rifle troops and Shirui locals. The tree plantation drive was an initiative of the
Somsai Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) and Ukhrul Forest Division.

The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to promote ‘Go Green Initiative’ and spread awareness about climate change and global warming. The villagers, youths and troops present were also educated about the importance of trees in maintaining the ecological equilibrium, controlling rainfalls, and checking carbon emissions.
