UKHRUL: The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has appealed for calm and restraint following the killing of four cadres of the NSCN (IM) Eastern Flank at Hongbei village under Kasom Khullen Block, Kamjong district in Manipur on Saturday, March 28.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, FNR stated that it was “deeply hurt” by the recent turn of events among the Naga community.

“What has transpired is wholly unbecoming, and no rationalization can justify it. There are no conditions—no “ifs” or “buts” that can quench the anger or desire for retaliation. The reality must be acknowledged, and time must be given to work through it with honesty and discipline,” it stated.

FNR also cautioned against responses that come disguised as confessions but are mixed with self-defense, partial repentance, or even veiled revenge and said that such impulses, if left unchecked, will only prolong harm and erode the Naga’s collective future.

“The danger lies not only in the events themselves but in the uncontrolled emotions that threaten to destroy us from within,” FNR stated.

Stating that the decisive “will” of the public, guided by leaders who are thoughtful and visionary, is urgently required, FNR called upon the Naga people to listen to the “voice of God” rather than surrender to immediate emotions that can destroy the future.

Appealing to all not to indulge in bitterness, FNR urged all to exercise moral clarity, communal responsibility, and disciplined restraint.

“In all urgency let this Holy Week change us to celebrate this Easter Sunday in peace and hope!” FNR added.
