Assault of traffic policeman & Swiggy delivery boy in Meghalaya, 4 arrested

Shillon: Four persons have been arrested for assaulting a traffic policeman, a delivery boy and two interns in Meghalaya.

“Based on the identification through various sources, four of the miscreants have been arrested so far. Following their interrogation, their involvement has been confirmed,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said in a statement.

He said that the district police are on the job to apprehend the rest of the culprits.

The police officer informed that the four have been produced in a court and an initial five days police remand has been sought for.

On June 24, a group of bikers assaulted a traffic policeman on being stopped at SD Khongwir junction, Mawlai Iewrynghep. The bikers were reportedly stopped for not wearing helmets. On their way back they assaulted a Swiggy delivery boy near Mahari Petrol Pump, Jaiaw and later headed towards Jaiaw Pdeng.

They then stopped at ES Restaurant and assaulted the two interns. Two FIRs were filed at Lumdiengjri police station and one at Mawlai police station.
