ATSUM expresses gratitude for solidarity in “Tribal movement”

The All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all the student bodies and individuals who stood up during the arrested of tribal leaders, calling it an hour of trial and tribulation.

ATSUM profusely thanked the Kuki Students’ Organisation-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) and All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) for negotiating an amicable solution with the government and all the federating units for supporting and sustaining the Autonomous District Council movement.

ATSUM in the statement issued Friday, also profusely thanked Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA), Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC), Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur (ZSUM), Joint Students’ Body Churachandpur, KSO Sadar Hills, KSO Tengnoupal, KSO Jiribam & Tamenglong, KSO Chandel, and KSO Ukhrul, KSO Imphal, Manipur University Tribal Students’ Union (MUTSU), All College Tribal Students’ Union Imphal (ACTSUI), DM University Tribal Students’ Union (DUTSU), Joint Higher Secondary School Tribal Student Union (JHSTSU), and Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI), Tamenglong Concern People’s Forum (TCPF) and Tamenglong Village Students Federation (TVSF) who came out in protest against the arrest thereby rendering the hill districts in virtual shutdown.     

ATSUM further said that it greatly appreciated the Naga Students Federation (NSF) for the solidarity message to ATSUM during this “crucial phase of tribal movement” in the Manipur state.

At the same time, ATSUM also expressed its regrets over the inconveniences caused to transporters, drivers and the general public “who underwent hardships during the blockade”.
