A couple who came for treatment at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital Imphal sustained injuries after a bomb went off at the entrance of RIMS campus today.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 9:30 am on Monday. The injured persons have been identified as Papao Guite (42) and his wife Hoipi (40) from S Molnom village of Kangpokpi district. The injured persons are reported to be out of danger.

DIG Themthing Ngasangva (IPS) speaking to media persons following the bomb blast near RIMS gate said that the blast was unexpected since it was at hospital and a soft spot. IPS Themthing said that security measures is stretched out to the maximum owing to festivities during this season and due to Ningol Chakouba and preparation for Fish mela. The explosion, he said, was meant to only hurt and injure the innocent netizens of the city where patients are rushing to hospitals amidst the pandemic. He condemned the bomb explosion and added that it was a cowardly act and assured that the culprits behind the attack will be booked. No militant groups operating in the state has owned up the blast till the time of filing of this report.
