Bomb Explode at ZEO Office, Ukhrul

Ukhrul: A high intensity IED bomb exploded at Zonal Education Office (ZEO) located at Phungreitang, in Ukhrul headquarters on Tuesday evening. At the time of the incident, office had been closed and no casualties were reported.

The explosion caused small crater at the corridor of ZEO office, Ukhrul.

The impact of the explosion also destroyed window pane and the splinters damage office iron gate.

Following the incident, a team of Ukhrul police led by Ningshem Vashum, SP, Ukhrul, promptly rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation.

In connection with the incident, Ukhrul police has registered a soumoto case for further investigation.

No insurgent groups or persons has claimed responsibility over the incident while filing these report.

The explosion occurs at a time when the populace are gearing up for Christmas and New Year celebrations with respective locales decorating their area in sync with the moods of the biggest and much awaited festival.

The festive season is also a time for the populace, especially the far flung remote villages, for shopping at Ukhrul town.
