Imphal: Employees of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Imphal, on Tuesday staged a protest against a bomb attack at the residence of an official of the institute late Monday night.
On Monday night, around 11.55 pm, miscreants triggered the bomb outside the gate of the house of Laikangbam Doren Singh, assistant registrar of NIT, Imphal, at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak under Imphal police station.
No casualty was reported in the explosion that damaged window panes of the house by the impact of the blast. The impact of the blast also damaged the RCC floor of the gate.

As per CCTV footage, two scooter-borne (Activa brand) masked men dropped the bomb packed in a polythene bag outside the gate of the assistant registrar, around 11.40 pm.
The bomb went off 15 minutes after the miscreants left the spot.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal police station who rushed to the spot after the explosion took stock of the situation. A team of forensic experts of the state police also conducted a spot inquiry.
The assistant registrar said that he could not ascertain the motive behind the bomb attack at his house. He had not received any monetary demand letter or threat from any underground group.
