Bomb Scare at ZEO Office, Ukhrul

Ukhrul: An unknown miscreant planted a bomb at the entrance of the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) in Ukhrul.

According to Ukhrul Police, a report about a grenade being planted on the premises of the Zonal Education Office was received around 9:30 AM on Wednesday.

In response, police and Assam Rifles cordoned off the area to ensure public safety. The grenade was safely detonated at 4:20 PM at the Central Jail by the Bomb Disposal Squad, who traveled from Imphal for the task.

The ZEO Office remained closed, with staff working from the Mini Secretariat Complex. At the time of filing this report, no group or individual had claimed responsibility.

Bomb threats have become frequent in Ukhrul; however, no arrests or identifications of the culprits have been made to date.
