UKHRUL: The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland on Wednesday released three important publications highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Art & Culture, Bayavü Hill, Kohima.
The books released were Studies on Naga Oral Traditions, Vol. II by Anungla Aier, Documentation of Indigenous Pottery Tradition of the Nagas by Ditamulü Vasa, and Contemporary Naga Painting: A Study of Cultural Narratives by Lemtila Alinger and Talisenla Imsong.
The programme also witnessed the unveiling of an Interactive Kiosk aimed at promoting and preserving Naga art and culture through digital platforms.

Speaking at the event, secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Art & Culture, Bodeno S. Colo, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to reimagining how cultural heritage is preserved, interpreted, and shared with the public. She said the kiosks, to be installed at the State Museum, will enable visitors to experience the diverse traditions of all Naga tribes in an engaging and accessible manner.
Colo stated that the interactive kiosks would particularly benefit younger generations by helping them connect with their cultural roots through modern technology, while ensuring the authenticity of traditional knowledge is maintained.
She also said that museums are evolving into interactive spaces of learning and dialogue, and that the introduction of the kiosks marks a significant step toward transforming the State Museum into a living cultural institution.

Highlighting the publications, Colo said that Anungla Aier’s work documents shared values and collective wisdom through Naga folktales, while Ditamulü Vasa’s study emphasizes indigenous knowledge systems and community-led conservation. She added that the study on contemporary Naga painting by Lemtıla Alinger and Talisenla Imsong reflects the dynamic and evolving nature of Naga visual arts.
She further appreciated Sentinaro Longkumer and 6ᵗʰ Finger Publishers for publishing the books and making them accessible to a wider audience.
Secretary Bodeno S. Colo, along with Governor’s Award recipient (Literature, 2025) Rita Krocha and Governor’s Award recipient [Art (Painting), 2012] Vilalhou Nuodi, released the books during the programme. The Interactive Kiosk was unveiled by Colo.
The programme was organised by the Directorate of Art & Culture under the leadership of Director Adela Moa.
