Brown Sugar, Heroin, and Cash Seized in Twin Major Raids in Thoubal

Ukhrul, April 26: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics trade, Manipur Police, along with other security forces, conducted a series of search operations under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district on Friday, leading to the seizure of large quantities of contraband drugs and the arrest of two individuals, Manipur police informed.

Per police, the first operation was carried out at the residence of Wangmayum Barul Alam, located at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Uloom Makha. During the search, security forces discovered and seized the following items concealed within the premises: 3.9 kilograms of brown sugar, Seven soap cases containing suspected heroin powder (approximately 12 grams per case), An additional 0.53 grams of brown sugar, Seven bottles of Codeine syrup (each 100 ml), and Seven mobile phones.

Wangmayum Barul Alam police report said was arrested on the spot, and the seized items were taken into custody for further investigation.

Following Alam’s arrest, security forces said it conducted a follow-up operation at the residence of Yangkhubam Hafi, also from Darul Uloom Makha under Lilong PS jurisdiction. During this operation, Rs. 1,14,220, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, 44 SP capsules, Two strips containing seven N10 tablets, Two strips containing twenty Diazepam tablets, Two bottles of Codeine syrup.
