Ukhrul, July 31: A special prayer gathering under the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ was held at CHQ Hebron, hosted by the Collective Leadership of the NSCN/GPRN and organized by the Archdioceses of Kohima and Imphal.

The event brought together over 50 Naga priests and more than 20 Naga nuns from various parishes and dioceses across Nagaland and Manipur. Around 900 delegates representing Catholic organizations from both states took part in the Holy Eucharistic celebration, observed as a “Prayer for the Nation.”

Rev. Dr. Fr. Godfrey Vilasal Thapo served as the main celebrant of the Eucharistic Mass. In a special address, Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurien interpreted the theme, drawing a parallel between the Naga political journey and a spiritual pilgrimage. He stressed that the Naga people continue to seek peace, justice, truth, dignity, and reconciliation with their history—ideals the Catholic Church recognizes and affirms.

The homily was delivered by Rev. Dr. Fr. George Rino and Rev. Fr. Robert Somi, who emphasized the importance of spiritual commitment and sacrifice in building the Kingdom of God. They urged the Naga faithful to remain steadfast in prayer, especially at this turning point in their journey.

The spirit of unity was a central message throughout the gathering, reaffirming the shared faith of the community. Prayers and blessings were offered for the Collective Leadership and members of the GPRN by all priests present, led by the main celebrant.
