Imphal, June 26: Amidst the prolonged political uncertainty in Manipur, BJP MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha has stated that the Centre is trying to restore a popular and stable government in the state.

Addressing the media at BJP Bhavan in Imphal on Thursday, Ibomcha said the central leadership is actively engaging with multiple stakeholders to create the groundwork for political normalcy. “Establishing a favourable environment for a stable and popular government is crucial,” he said. “The Centre has been working tirelessly and is in constant dialogue with civil society organisations.”

The BJP leader’s comments came after a meeting with state party president A Sharda Devi, who had earlier held consultations with senior BJP leaders in New Delhi on the state’s political future.

Ibomcha, accompanied by MLA Yumnam Khemchand, appealed to the people of Manipur to support the ongoing peace-building and governance efforts. Responding to questions about whether the situation is conducive for forming a popular government, he said, “The party is trying its level best. Dialogue with the Centre and engagement with both Meitei and Kuki civil groups is part of the roadmap for peace.”
