UKHRUL: Following the destruction of the Bailey bridge connecting Sahamphung Block and Kamjong Headquarters on July 21, the Chahong Khunou village has made several key demands to the state government.

In a press release, the villagers stated that on July 21 at around 11 PM, they heard a loud explosion, though no one could locate the exact location. It has now been confirmed that the only bridge over the Namban River, which connects Kamjong District Headquarters to Chatric and Chahong Khunou village, was destroyed. Additionally, a vehicle belonging to the Telecom (BSNL) department, which was parked near the bridge, was burned by the ‘narco-terrorists’ operating in the area.
The villagers expressed their frustration, noting that nearly five days have passed since the incident without any action taken against the perpetrators or efforts to restore the bridge. They have laid out the following demands in light of the severe hardships they are facing:

1. Apprehend the perpetrators and impose exemplary punishments.
2. Restore the destroyed bridge.
3. Provide an alternative route from Sahamphung Block Headquarters to Ukhrul.
4. Compensate for the vehicle and materials that were burned.
They urge the concerned authorities to respond promptly, demonstrating that the government stands with them during this challenging time.
