Chandel Community Unites to Declare Strict Ban on Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco and Illegal Substances

Ukhrul: In a collective move to safeguard their community, the people of Chandel District, represented by the Chandel Naga Christian Forum (CNCF), the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO), and the Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC), made a solemn declaration today to take a united stand against drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and other illegal substances. The declaration said, “This pledge represents our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our community from the devastating effects of these substances.”

A mass rally was organised to amplify the message at the Chandel District Headquarters today. CNPO representative told Ukhrul Times that the Chandel community believes that together, they can make a difference and create a safer, healthier environment for all.

The declaration, which was formally adopted in Chandel, called for a strict prohibition on the use, sale, possession, and transport of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and other illegal substances within the district and beyond. Leaders from the community stated that this united pledge was not just a matter of words but an actionable commitment to fostering a healthy, peaceful, and prosperous society.

“We, the people of Chandel, stand in one voice and accord in our fight against the harmful substances that threaten our families and future generations. This is not only a moral obligation but a necessity for the well-being of our youth,” the Forum stated.

The Chandel community also vowed to remain vigilant, standing against all forms of injustice and exploitation that contribute to the issues of drug abuse. As part of their commitment, the leaders stressed the importance of collective action and urged every resident of Chandel to work together to maintain a drug-free environment.
