Chandel District Launches ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025’

Chandel, July 24: In a bid to prevent diarrhoea-related deaths and illnesses in children, Chandel district has launched the ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025’ at the Conference Hall, District Hospital Chandel. Organized by the District Health Society, Chandel, the campaign follows the theme ‘Diarrhoea Ki Roktham, Safai aur ORS se Rakhen Apna Dhyaan,’ promoting preventive measures, timely treatment, and improved hygiene practices.

Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, Shri L. Nandakumar Singh, IAS, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joyson Mathew Monsang presided over the event. Guests of honour included Hrangbung Starson Anal, ZEO Chandel; Ahanthem Neemi, DPO, ICDS Project, Chandel; and Dr. Serbum Shakchung Moyon, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Chandel.

In his address, the CMO highlighted the campaign’s convergence approach, involving departments like Health, Education, ICDS, and local bodies to achieve a shared objective. The campaign focuses on ensuring universal access to Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc, strengthening hygiene and sanitation, and enhancing awareness about diarrhoea management. He further stated that the initiative will target children under five, particularly in vulnerable communities, through door-to-door visits, school and Anganwadi centre outreach, and distribution of ORS and zinc, ultimately strengthening health infrastructure for better case management. With over 5,800 children under five in Chandel, the campaign will run for six weeks, concluding on September 4.

The event was attended by Dr. Hrangbung Sally, District Nodal Officer for Child Health; Jasha Premi, District Programme Manager, Chandel; Medical Officers; ICDS Supervisors; ANMs; ASHA and AWW workers; and other staff of District Health Society, Chandel. The guests of honour assured full support for the campaign’s success, emphasizing the importance of hygiene practices like handwashing, safe drinking water, and sanitation.
