CHANDEL: Solomon Nungchim, principal of United College, Lambung in Chandel district was laid to rest on Sunday at Heigrutampak (Tungphae) village. He passed away on Friday (December 19) at Apollo Hospital, Guwahati, following an illness. He was 63.
According to family, he was a heart patient and was under treatment at Apollo Hospital, Guwahati since December 16, 2025. He was discharged on December 19 but suddenly got cardiac arrest and succumbed to it at 7:15 pm, the family stated in his autobiography.
Until his death, (L) Solomon Nungchim was the principal of United College, Lambung in Chandel. He also taught in the College for 37 years, and at his death he was an Associate Professor, and was the Principal of United College, Lambung since March, 2025.

His lifeless body was brought to his village, Heigrutampak, on Saturday and the funeral was held on Sunday with Rev. Fr. Kodai Benjamin, Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Parish, Liwachangning administering the service. The service was attended by family, friends and well wishers.
Meanwhile, St. Paul’s Parish, Liwachangning, Chandel under which the late principal was a Parishioner, has mourned “the untimely death of its faithful parishioner Khp Solomon Nungchim Moyon, Principal of United College, Lambung, Chandel, on the 19th December, 2025.”
A condolence message by Rev. Fr. Kodai Benjamin, Parish Priest, St. Paul’s Parish and John Tharshing, Secretary, PPC, stated that Khp Solomon Nungchim was an extraordinary leader whose dedication to the parish and its evangelization was epoch history for the parish in particular.
As a faithful parishioner, he served as the President of Parish Catholic Congress, Parish Pastoral Council Secretary as well as Parish Land Committee in various years. During this period of year’s, he was a channel for powerful champions towards the peaceful coexistence among the communities and a passionate educationist for every cause of development, they stated.

“A thoroughly decent man of great integrity” is how those who knew him will describe Khp Solomon Nungchim Moyon, who leaves a rich legacy of compassion for his parish, his church, his community and in the field of Education towards the well-being of our youngsters, they stated.
