Children of sanitation workers to rejoice ‘Joy of Life with the Rhythm of Equality’

Guwahati: Over one thousand children belonging to the families of sanitation workers in the city will participate in a cultural event titled ‘Joy of Life with the Rhythm of Equality’ at Khanapara veterinary college ground on Sunday (3 December 2023). Organised by Valmiki Music School on the death anniversary of Bharat Pran Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, architect of the Constitution, the event will witness various cultural programs like Sattriya dances, Bhortal performances, Borgeet presentations, playing of patriotic music etc.

Initiated with an aim to pay tribute to Dr Ambedkar and remind the citizens of their duty and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution, the spectacular event will be graced by a number of dignitaries including Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttar Kamalabari Sattra’s Sattradhikar Janardan Devagoswami, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar along with the sanitation workers, where Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami will be present as a special guest.

It may be mentioned that Valmiki Music School, run by the city-based Dr Hedgewar Memorial Trust, has been regularly making efforts for the cultural development of children belonging to sanitation workers in the slum areas through various training programs on cultural activities. The school authority has made it a habit to visit their areas to organize training programs on Sattriya & folk dances, Bhortal & patriotic song performances, fabulous Assamese music, etc.

The event on rejoicing joy of life with equality in society was organised on Babasaheb’s Punya Tithi for the first time in 2022. Hedgewar memorial trust’s president Bhupesh Ch Sharma and secretary Khagen Saikia as well as the celebration committee’s president Shriram Singh and joint secretaries Shiva Basfor & Sarabjit Singh have invited everyone to attend the programs starting at 3 pm to convey their appreciation to the performing children on the auspicious occasion.
