SVEEP continues to intensify voter awareness campaign in Ukhrul

Ukhrul: The Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Ukhrul District team intensified its campaign by visiting different schools and colleges in Ukhrul.

The team on Friday visited Little Angel English School, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Sacred Higher Secondary School, KTL-Excel Higher Secondary School in the district headquarters. During the visit, the SVEEP District Nodal Officer, Ringshan Shaiza, highlighted the importance of registering/enrolling in electoral roll to the students of classes 11 and 12. Later, the SVEEP team also interacts with the head of the institution to set up ELC (Electoral Literacy Club) and ambassadors of the colleges.

During the visit to the various school and colleges, the SVEEP team discusses the objective of the SVEEP campaign. Increase voter turnout to 75% in Lok Sabha elections 2024 by purifying the electoral roll of every polling booth. Bridging gender gap in enrolment and turnout. Ensuring inclusion of all non-voters marginalised sections through targeted interventions, technological solutions and policy changes Addressing urban and youth apathy in electoral participation. Turning around all low turnout constituencies and polling stations. To enhance the quality of electoral participation in terms of informed and ethical voting through continuous electoral and democracy education.

Also, the District SVEEP Nodal Officer highlighted the processes of registering that the Election commission of India offers online voter registration for Indian citizens who have attained the age of 18 on the qualifying date on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October of the year of revision of electoral roll.
