In an interview with ANI, BJP Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh, Tapr Gao was quoted saying, China has been constructing villages in the state since 1980s. India and China border dispute approximately covers 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC).

“They’ve built Longju to Maza road. During Rajiv Gandhi’s regime, China occupied Sumdorong Chu Valley in Tawang. The then Army Chief planned an op but Rajiv Gandhi denied him permission to push back PLA,” Tapir Gao told ANI.

The MP’s comments came in after startling satellite images showing Chinese intrusion into Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh.

“We have seen recent reports on China undertaking construction work along the border areas with India. China has undertaken such infrastructure construction activity in the past several years,” the MEA said.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram took to twitter and said “If this is true, it is clear that the Chinese have altered the status quo by converting a disputed area into a permanent settlement of Chinese nationals.”

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in September 2020 abducted five youths of Nacho area of upper Subansiri distirct in Arunachal Pradesh.
