China-made affordable Kenbo Bikes banned in Kamjong

Kamjong: A circular issued by Sameul Tongminlen Lhungdim, Sub-Divisional office, Kamjong District, Government of Manipur informed all the headmen, chairmen and chiefs of villages under Kamjong Sub-Division to ban the usage of Kenbo bikes in Kamjong Block area with immediate effect.

The affordable China-made Kenbo bikes which has high demand in the black market was banned in Manipur. A directive in this regard was issued in September 3, 2021 to DGP Manipur by the home department to seize Kenbo bikes in Manipur driven without registration numbers.

The order of September 2021 had notified that owners of the illegal bikes would face penalty or legal action if found riding the foreign bike in towns as well as villages in the state.

Mizoram government in 2020 banned the use of Kenbo bikes claiming it was used for cross border smuggling.
