Manipur logs 33 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Imphal: Manipur’s overall COVID-19 infection count rose to 1,25,269 with 33 fresh cases reported on Thursday.

The fatality tally also rose to 1,979 with one more person succumbing to the COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, the Health department said, in its bulletin updated at 5pm today.

The death was reported in Imphal East district. The deceased had comorbidities and was not vaccinated, the department said.

The state has 663 active cases at present after the recovery tally rose to 1,22,627 with 28 patients being discharged upon recuperation on Thursday.

The recovery rate of the state stood at 97.89% while the positivity rate of the state was 2.24%.

The state tested 1,476 samples in the last 24 hours to take the total number of samples so far tested in the state to 14,22,254.

Significantly, 10 of the 16 districts reported no new cases on the day.

At 14, Imphal East district surpassed Imphal West district (13 new cases) to take the top position in the highest daily surge.

Three new cases were reported in Bishnupur district while one case each reported in Churachandpur and Ukhrul districts.

Meanwhile, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state reached 21,68,185 with 8,321 more people vaccinated on Wednesday.

In the state, a total of 8,83,532 people have received both the doses while 12,84,653 first dose, the Health department said.
