Chiru Naga Couple Attacked in Noney by Unidentified Miscreants; Husband Killed

UKHRUL: A fresh incident of ambush was reported on Wednesday evening in the Joujangtek area under Noney district, Manipur, leaving one person dead and his wife injured.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 6:45 pm between Joujangtek and Nungsai villages when the victims were returning home from Imphal. The deceased has been identified as Wilson Thanga, a resident of Dolang village belonging to the Chiru Naga community. Reports said Thanga and his wife came under attack by unidentified miscreants while passing through the Joujangtek area.

Thanga was killed on the spot, while his wife sustained injuries in the ambush. She was later shifted for medical treatment, sources added.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding those involved in the attack. Security agencies are expected to intensify operations in the region following the incident. Further details are awaited.
