UKHRUL: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has strongly condemned the ambush in Kangpokpi District between Kotlen and Kotzim villages on Wednesday that resulted in the deaths of three Christian leaders from the Thadou Baptist Association. The NSCN-IM has also termed it a devilish act and urged authorities to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

In a press statement, the NSCN-IM expressed deep shock and anguish over the ambush and brutal murder of these three church leaders, who were returning to Kangpokpi from the TBA Conference in Churachandpur. The victims were unarmed civilians and highly respected members of their community, the NSCN-IM emphasized.

The organization extended its heartfelt condolences and prayers for strength and comfort for the bereaved families during this difficult time. They condemned the violent act in the strongest terms and urged authorities to identify and apprehend the perpetrators guilty of such unprecedented barbarism.

“It is also unfortunate that certain organisations have resorted to casting blame upon others without proper verification, while some may themselves be attempting to exploit the tragedy for ulterior motives at the expense of innocent lives. Such actions only further expose the extent to which certain Kuki organisations are willing to inflame the already volatile situation in the region,” the NSCN-IM stated.

The NSCN-IM reiterated its commitment to peace, mutual respect, and harmonious coexistence among all communities. They cautioned that in a time of heightened tensions, irresponsible accusations and retaliatory narratives would only deepen divisions and prolong suffering. The statement concluded with prayers for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.
