Churachandpur bomb blast death toll rise to three

Churachandpur: The death toll of Saturday night’s bomb blast inside a house in Manipur’s Churachandpur district of Manipur rose to three after one more died in a hospital in Imphal on Sunday.

On Saturday night, an explosion inside a house at Mualkoi village under Churachandpur police station killed two persons instantly including a minor boy and injured five others.

One of the critically wounded identified as Langginsang (22), son of Thangchinpau of Ngathal village succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Imphal today, official reports said.

It was a mortar bomb which was allegedly collected by the children from an open place that was blasted on Saturday night, around 7.30 pm.

The children collected unexploded mortar from near the BSF subsidiary training centre (STC) at Churachandpur district. It went off while the children tried to break the mortar allegedly without knowing that it was an explosive material, reports added.
