CHURACHANDPUR: Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Krishna Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of three government schools in the district on Tuesday to review their academic functioning, infrastructure, and overall performance.
The schools visited were Kumbipukhri High School in Koite, Gandhi Memorial Government High School in Molnom, and Tuibuong Government High School in Tuibong. The inspection was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Seiminthang Lenthang, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Esther Chingneikim, and other officials.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the availability of clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities in the schools. He also reviewed the implementation of the PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal) Scheme, examined cleanliness measures under the Swachhta initiative, and inspected classroom infrastructure, including lighting and fans, to ensure students have a conducive learning environment.
Interacting with students in their classrooms, Krishna Kumar evaluated their learning levels through direct questioning and observed the ongoing teaching-learning process.
Emphasising the importance of quality education, he directed headmasters and teaching staff to strengthen classroom instruction, improve learning outcomes, and ensure students receive education in a supportive and well-maintained environment. He also stressed the need for regular monitoring of academic performance and encouraged teachers to adopt effective teaching practices to enhance students’ understanding and overall development.

The Zonal Education Officer and her staff were instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directions issued during the inspection.
Later in the day, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the ongoing construction of the new College of Nursing building near Churachandpur District Hospital. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Chief Medical Officer Henkhoneng Mate, Medical Superintendent Sania Monica, and other officials.
Reviewing the progress of the project, Krishna Kumar emphasised the importance of completing the nursing college building within the stipulated timeframe to strengthen healthcare education infrastructure in the district.
