Churachandpur: Illegal Arms, War-like Stores Recovered at G Songgel Village

CHURACHANDPUR: A joint team of Churachandpur District Police, Sangaikot Police and ITBP recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a forested general area of G Songgel village under Sangaikot Police Station, police sources said. 

Per the police, a joint combing operation was conducted by District Police under the command of Additional SP OPS Churachandpur assisted by OC Sangaikot PS and one platoon of ITBP under the command of AC Sanoj, E-58 ITBP, G. Songgel, under the supervision of Anand Rawat Adhoc CO ITBP and under the overall supervision of SP/CCP on Wednesday from 8:45 am to 10:15 am, based on reliable inputs from sources of presence of illegal arms and war-like stores at forested general area of G Songgel village under Sangaikot Police Station.

During the combing operation, the team recovered illegal arms and war-like stores which were concealed under cover dry leaves & bushes from a forested general area near G Songgel Cemetery. The recovered arms and ammunition included three country-made bolt action SBBL Caliber rifles, one country-made bolt action .303 Caliber rifle with magazine, one country-made 9mm Caliber pistol with magazine, one Medium Range Improvised Local Made Canon (PUMPI), six local-made rocket shells, and two stun grenades.

The recovered items were submitted to Sangaikot PS for taking necessary action, the sources added.
