Ukhrul, April 12: In a troubling recurrence of sexual assault and murder cases in the Churachandpur district of Manipur, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in Leizangphai village, Thanglon Sub-division, on Friday. This is the third case of sexual assault reported in the district within a month.

The Zomi Mothers’ Association (ZMA), General Headquarters, has condemned this horrific occurrence and demanded that the perpetrator be tried in a fast-track court and given the death penalty. The association emphasized that these recurring incidents reflect a lack of respect for women’s dignity and a failure to protect that dignity.
