Minor Girl Found Dead in Churachandpur, Murder Suspected

Ukhrul, Mar 21: In a tragic case of alleged murder, a young girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Churachandpur on Thursday evening. The girl, identified as Mandeihkim, daughter of Niangsenkhup, was residing in Lingsiphai, Lanva TD Block, and was a second-grade student at Way Mark Academy in Lamka.

According to the Zomi Mothers’ Association (ZMA), General Headquarters, she was last seen on March 20, 2025, at approximately 6:30 PM. When she failed to return home by around 8 PM, her panic-stricken family began searching for her, ultimately discovering her lifeless body around 11:30 PM. Reports indicate that there was an injury mark on her neck and blood was found at the scene.

Alleging she was murdered, the ZMA has called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and deliver justice to her family. They condemned the act in the strongest terms, asserting that such crimes against humanity must not be tolerated in society.

Meanwhile, Way Mark Academy, New Lamka, in a condolence message, has expressed deep shock and grief at the sudden demise of their student. The school has also shared the bereft family’s sorrow in their loss.

Further, the gruesome incident has also drawn condemnation from the Hmar Women’s Association. The association, urging the concerned authority to take necessary and immediate action to book the perpetrator(s) at the earliest, stated that the inhumane act is a disgrace not only to the women’s community but to society at large. It has also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
