CM N. Biren Warns of Threat from Illegal Immigrants with Fake Aadhaar Cards

IMPHAL, OCT 29: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said today that “influx of illegal immigrants with fake Aadhaar cards is a big threat to the indigenous population of Manipur”. He also said the government has already imposed a strict legislation on buying and selling of land in Manipur whereby any land transaction needs to be approved by a cabinet sub- committee. “All these steps have been taken up to protect the indigenous population of the state”, he added.

Biren said this while attending, through video conferencing from Imphal, the launch, inauguration and stone laying of multiple projects related to the health sector worth over Rs 12,850 crore at All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended the function through video conferencing from District Hospital of Thoubal. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also laid the foundation stone of Critical Care Block at District Hospital, Thoubal, Manipur (under PM- ABHIM) through video conferencing.

Speaking on the occasion, N. Biren Singh stated that the estimated cost for the construction of the said block is around Rs. 16 crore. The Chief Minister opined that the State government launched the Chief Ministergi Hakshel gi Tengbang (CMHT) on January 21, 2018 while Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 23, 2018 to provide cashless medical treatment to the poor and needy people. Under AB-PMJAY, senior citizens above 70 years of age irrespective of their income would get upto Rs 5 lakhs for free treatment in the empanelled hospital, he mentioned.

N. Biren Singh also mentioned that the government had launched ‘War on Drugs’ in the State to save the present and future generations. 

Since the Centre has an initiative to open a medical college each in every district of the country,  N. Biren Singh said the government would consider setting up more medical colleges in some other districts of the state like Thoubal and Ukhrul.

On the occasion, N. Biren Singh also launched the revised State Action Plan on Climate Change and Human Health.
