Ukhrul, Aug 3: On the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Framework Agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN, the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) reaffirmed its full support for a lasting political solution based on the agreement.
The CNPO, representing the 11 Naga tribes of Chandel district, said the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, remains central to the Nagas’ political aspiration for self-determination. It urged the Government of India to implement the agreement without further delay.
The organisation also raised four key demands:
- Immediate solution based on the Framework Agreement.
- Halt to the ongoing construction of the Indo-Myanmar border fencing.
- Revocation of the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR).
- Recognition of the Naga flag and constitution.

The anniversary programme was attended by leaders of the 11 Naga tribe Hohos, ANSAM, NSUC and its units, tribe women unions, Naga Chiefs’ Association Chandel, Chandel Naga Christian Forum (CNCF), and other well-wishers.
A mass prayer for Naga leaders and the Framework Agreement was led by Rev. Shonnai Saka, president of the CNCF. In a first, the Framework Agreement was translated into all 11 local Naga dialects and read out during Sunday services in churches across the district.
