Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge constitutes Fact-Finding team on Manipur violence

Imphal: Congress President and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge has constituted a three-member Fact-Finding team to visit Manipur, to ascertain the causes of widespread violence in the state and evaluate its extent, in coordination with the All India Congress Committee (AICC) incharge of Manipur, PCC President and CLP Leader, with immediate effect, a press release issued by the party on Tuesday said.

The three-member Fact-Finding team comprises of:

1. Shri Mukul Wasnik, MP, General Secretary, AICC

2. Dr. Ajoy Kumar, Ex MP AICC Incharge

3. Shri Sudip Roy Barman, MLA

The release further said that the team shall submit its report to the Congress President at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Congress leader and former CM Okram Ibobi Singh along with party leaders met the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi and apprised him of the situation in the state, ANI tweeted.

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President K. Meghachandra on May 8 condemned the BJP-led N Biren Singh’s government and said, “the prevailing turmoil in Manipur is due to the utter failure of Manipur Home Department and Intelligence Unit”.
