Shillong, September 8: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today introduced the Meghalaya State Language (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Tabling the statement of object and reasons during the first day of the autumn session, Sangma said the state of Meghalaya has a new district named Eastern West Khasi Hills. The Khasi community in the district uses the Khasi language. Therefore, it was necessary to amend section 4 of the Meghalaya State Language Act, 2005 to include the new district in the provision.
