Over 2,000 Attend NSUB’s 57th Freshers’ Meet cum Nagas’ Night

UKHRUL: The Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB) hosted its 57th Freshers’ Meet cum Nagas’ Night at the Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) auditorium in Bengaluru on October 2, bringing together more than 2,000 students, dignitaries and well-wishers.

Held under the theme “A Legacy to Carry, a Future to Create,” the annual event welcomed new students and working professionals into the Naga community in Bengaluru while celebrating Naga culture, identity and diversity.

In her presidential address, NSUB president Sheyini reflected on the union’s 57-year history and paid tribute to those who established and served the organisation over the decades. She urged the younger generation to consider what they would leave behind for those who follow.

The event was attended by Manipur deputy chief minister Losii Dikho as chief guest, while Dr Loung Nathan K. K., professor at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, was the guest speaker.

Their addresses focused on leadership, service, vision and the role of young people in preserving their heritage while contributing to society, according to NSUB.

The programme also featured a guest performance by Nagaland-based artist KL Pamei, along with cultural performances and artistic showcases representing the diverse traditions of the Naga community.

A major highlight was the Mr. & Ms. Fresher NSUB 2026 contest. Shisalong Jamir from the Ao community and Khoziia Kashipri from the Mao community were crowned Mr. and Ms. Fresher NSUB 2026, respectively.

Kashipri also won the Ms. Popularity title, while Ganguanglung Kamei from the Zeliangrong community was named Mr. Popularity.

The event was supported by title sponsors Glamsjo Salon Academy, Sakra World Hospital, Roots & Ferns, Harvest Kitchen, Hornbill Kitchen and Longshim by Indigenous Basket. Associate sponsors included Chumthang Kitchen, Maven Kitchen, Naga Choka and Melita Luxury Skincare.

NSUB said the 57th edition of the event served as a platform to welcome a new generation of students while strengthening community ties and celebrating Naga identity, culture and fellowship in Bengaluru.
